This tournament is designed to be a blast for everyone involved. We'll have basketball hoops, music, and fun, all with a festive Halloween theme. Players will receive Halloween candy after each game , and concessions will be available throughout the day.

Tournament Rules at a Glance:

  • Games are played to 25 points or a 15-minute time limit.

  • Baskets are worth 2 or 3 points.

  • There's no need to check the ball with the other team after a made or missed shot; just clear the ball behind the 3-point line to resume play.

  • Man-to-man defense is required (no zone).

3rd-8th Grade | Boys & Girls | $175/per team

The Ames High Boys and Girls Basketball programs and Ames Basketball Club present the Ames Early Bird. All games will be at Ames School District facilities.

Divisions:

  • 3rd Boys, 4th Boys, 5th Boys, 6th Boys, 7th Boys, 8th Boys

  • 3rd Girls, 4th Girls, 5th Girls, 6th Girls, 7th Girls, 8th Girls

  • Max of 6 teams per division

  • Guarantee of three games

Game Rules for All Divisions:

  • Only the head coach may stand during live play.

  • Technical fouls result in the opposing team shooting 2 free throws and gaining possession of the ball.

  • Any flagrant foul will result in the offending player sitting out the rest of the game.

  • Games consist of two 18-minute halves.

  • All games start 3 minutes after the previous game finishes.

  • If a court falls behind by more than 10 minutes, games will shift to two 17-minute halves with a 1-minute halftime until the schedule is back on track.

  • The clock stops during the last minute of the second half unless a team is leading by 15 points or more.

  • Bonus free throws (1-and-1) begin on the 7th team foul, and teams shoot 2 free throws on the 10th team foul.

  • 3-point shots count as 3 points.

  • Each team is allotted 3 timeouts per game (30 seconds each).

  • Overtime lasts 1 minute with a stopped clock; if the game is still tied, sudden death will determine the winner.
